In this book, 13 Men Who Changed the World, Pastor H. S. Vegeveno writes, "Thirteen men did change the world. Thirteen men chosen by Jesus of Nazareth. They left the world far different from what it had been before they came. . . . They had no financial backing, no elaborate organization, no social pull, no prestige, no churches in which to worship, no committees. They were outnumbered, persecuted, forbidden to preach, and finally killed." How did they do it?The apostles' effectiveness was tied to their faithfulness and their empowerment by Jesus Christ, who sent them on a job to bring about this result: the establishment and growth of Christianity. Because they boldly accepted the radical mission, we now, 2,000 years later, have access to the Gospel and rejoice in the saving knowledge of Christ. The very word "apostle" means "one who is sent." They were sent by Jesus to change the world. "Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me even so send I you. And when he had said this, he BREATHED on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:" (John 20:21-22) These 13 men (12 disiples and the Apostle Paul) were sent into the world to make disciples. (Matthew 28:19) We are still bound to this commission today. Are you willing to go out into the world under God's guidance?

This is a wonderful book of character analysis. It deals with the twelve disciples, and Paul the Apostle. It delves into character sketches of even the lesser know of the twelve. The book helps us to learn about the group so that we might learn from their examples.
